I'm not sure about Semitic languages, but my sense is that to translate your sentence to Romance or Slavic you would have to completely restructure it, which is what I've tried in my tentative Hebrew translation. I had never reflected on English's transitive verbs this way before.
(Yes, above is what I'm offering up for translation as well).

אני לא בטוח לגבי שפות שמיות, אבל התחושה שלי היא שכדי לתרגם את המשפט שלך לשפות רומאניות או סלאביות, אתה צריך לסדר אותו מחדש לגמרי, שזה מה שניסיתי לעשות בהצעה שלי לתירגום לעברית. קודם לכן אף פעם לא חשבתי על הפעלים היוצאים של האנגלית בדרך זו.

He had been visiting her family repeatedly for months before they agreed with the wedding.

On the surface, he seems to be a shallow and careless guy, but once you dig deeper and see beyond the veil of his appearance, things look way different.

לא אתעכב על האירוניה בזה שכמה אנשים שרוצים להצביע לעזוב מן הסתם רוצים להשתמש בחירת "העזיבה" כדי להישאר, אך הגישה כזו גם מתעלמת מיסודות הדמוקרטיה, דיפלומטיה ולגיטימיות.
