Listening to TV/radio broadcasts in German can be a bit overwhelming for learners. They speak quickly, use verb tenses learners don't learn until they are more advanced, and use topic-specific vocabulary that a learner may not have ever seen or heard before.
DW-TV has some excellent resources to help learners with listening comprehension:
Top-Thema -- short articles on current topics, with pdfs and podcasts you can download, vocabulary, and comprehension questions
Video-Thema -- like Top-Thema, but with a video you can watch online. You can download the transcript with vocab and questions.
Langsam gesprochene Nachrichten -- daily headlines news, spoken more slowly for learners to follow. You can download the podcasts. Text is online.
Glossar -- a glossary of the more topic-specific words they use in the news broadcasts
And this is one of my favorite German TV shows that I've seen,
Zimmer Frei! It s a fun game show where the hosts "interview" a guest--usually someone prominent and well-known in Germany--to be their "roommate." I'm in the US, and I can watch the episodes here, so I would think you can view them in the UK too. There's a lot of conversation about common, every-day stuff plus humorous stuff, so it's great for learners. There's also podcasts of some of the shows.
