Danish Discussion Thread

Postby Halfdan » 2014-08-04, 3:04

I noticed that the Danish forum didn't have a dedicated general discussion thread. So, if you have any questions about Danish, or you just want to talk about it, then this is the place for you.

Too bad that danish section is pretty dead :-( Compared to norwegian or swedish. How to change this?

Maybe by making it easier to find information. Like specific threads for discussion, links, culture, etc.

But there are no active people here on this thread for Danish. Danish is probably less attractive than other nordic languages.

Danish's relative attractiveness is irrelevant. There are obviously many people learning the language regardless. I just think that having a more organised forum (cf. the Norwegian forum) is much more inviting to learners looking for help.

I'm aware of the fact that the Danish forum isn't very active, but activity can be encouraged with threads like this.

Hello. Is there a Danish course that uses (preferrably narrow) IPA, or at least Dania? In case of this language text with recordings is not enough
Please correct my mistakes!

I have two Danish textbooks that use IPA, though unfortunately they lack recordings.

Is that old version of Teach Yourself Danish any good? I have the second book you mention, but I feel it's a bit dense at times. Still, it's better than most Danish learning books out there...

I like the old Teach Yourself Danish, but it can also be quite dense. Unlike the Elementary Grammar and Reader, TY has a consistant plot throughout similar to modern TYs, but here the grammar is explained in depth. Making it easier to follow.

I just bought the 1973 edition earlier this week. Finally some IPA! :bounce:
I'm enjoying it so far!
