Please help me with my first Spanish homework assignment

I'm taking my first Spanish class in 11 years. The first class was on Wednesday morning, but it snowed a lot that morning and all morning classes at my school were cancelled for that day. My professor posted a homework assignment anyway. I have to introduce myself in Spanish, explain why I'm taking the class, and tell a little about myself. I'm scared because it all has to be in Spanish, but I don't know very much Spanish. This is supposed to be an introductory course, but I'm already feeling a little overwhelmed.

I bought the Living Language Spanish books over the summer, but didn't have a lot of time to study. I used the books and Google to write about myself in Spanish:

"¡Hola! Me llamo Amber y yo soy sicología especialidad en Regis College. Yo inscrito en esta clase porque yo soy en vista de doble especialización en sicología y Español. La clase última Español yo tomó era quintó grado. Yo fuerza estar detrás en Español, pero yo soy ansioso aprender.

It's supposed to say:

Hi! M name is Amber and I am a psychology major at Regis College. I enrolled in this class because I am considering double majoring in psychology and Spanish. The last Spanish class I took was in fifth grade. I might be behind in Spanish, but I am eager to learn.

"I am interested in learning Spanish because it opens the door to many opportunities, including communicating with more people and learning about Spanish culture. I grew up in Franklin, Massachusetts. I transferred from Rhode Island College in September of 2012."

Please help me by editing my Spanish translation and explaining the grammatical rules behind any fixes you make. Thank you

1) No hace falta utilizar "yo" en cada frase. "Estoy" y "Soy" ya significan "I am"
1) No need to use "yo" in every sentence. "Estoy" and "Soy" already mean "I am"

2) En ciertos puntos en tus parágrafos has utilizado la conjugación pretérita de la tercera persona cuando deberías haber utilizado la conjugación pretérita de la primera. Ten cuidado con eso y utiliza un gráfico de la conjugación verbal si algo te queda duda.
2) At certain points in your paragraphs you used the third person past tense conjugation when you should've used the first person past one. Be careful with that and use a verb conjugation chart when in doubt.

Déjame aclarar algunas cosas:

- En español, los idiomas y los meses del año se escriben con minúscula. También los días de la semana. In Spanish, names of languages and months are written in small letters. Also days of the week.
- Sicología es correcto, pero es una innovación y en textos formales se prefiere psicología. Since the form without p is a recent innovation, in most formal texts it's preferred to write psicología.
- Ten cuidado con la concordancia de persona. Si hablas de ti misma, pon los verbos en primera persona: tomé, crecí (y no tomó, creció). Be careful with person agreement. If you're talking about yourself, use verbs in the 1st person singular: tomé, crecí (and not tomó, creció).
- De igual modo, el género: los adjetivos y los artículos concuerdan en género con el sustantivo al que acompañan. No decimos el español cultura sino la cultura española. Also, gender agreement: adjectives and articles must agree in gender with the substantive they accompany. We don't say el español cultura but la cultura española.
- Cuidado con las traducciones palabra por palabra. Se nota que no has entendido lo que querías poner cuando has traducido I might be behind por yo fuerza estar detrás. Might es un verbo modal, pero cuando has buscado la traducción, lo has cambiado por el sustantivo fuerza (que en inglés es the might = the power). Be careful with word-by-word translations. It's noticeable that you didn't understand what you wanted to write when you translated I might be behind as yo fuerza estar detrás. Might is a modal verb, but when you looked its translation up, you used instead the substantive fuerza (which in English corresponds to the might = the power).
