I have been forgotten that, thanks for reminding :D Ok, I know, let's play a story making game in Latvian. Each person makes up a sentence and can't make to sentences in a row and meanwhile somebody corrects the mistakes. Deal?

And Alcadras is chosen to start a topic for this :D

How nice moments I had here... I wish, I hadn't lost my book. Nolādēts!
I'll continue studying Latvian again. I don't know when but after getting used to it, I'll be able to read and understand Lithuanian.

I had asked for my name's Latvianized version but I forgot it. Can someone write again?

My name: Miraç (ç as ch in cherry, and like miiirach)

And write every form of it. (acc,dat,gen...)

Paldies!

I looked through a Latvian-Lithuanian phrase book hoping to find some similarities but every sentence was completely different!

I happened to have a Lithuanian TV channel for one day and I could recognise only long words and anglicisms. This is a fairly easy sentence but if you said it out loud I think I wouldn't understand it.

btw, I think it should be Mīračš, because he told that it's like miiirach, so it should be long i. And for š, well I've only heard words with š not s in which before the last one letter is č, like Guntars Račš. But I might be wrong.

Can someone record it? That'd be more clear.

Instrumentālis vienskaitlī vienmēr ir vienāds ar akuzatīvu un daudzskaitlī vienāds ar datīvu. Un aiz prievārda "ar" vienskaitlī tiek lietots akuzatīvs un daudzskaitlī datīvs. Tā kā es uzskatu, ka instrumentālis ir zudis locījums latviešu valodā un tādēļ to izlaidu.

Well I also wanted to write Miračš as an alternative but I thought I would confuse him.

I don't have a working microphone at the moment but when I do I could record all versions of your name and then you could choose the best one. kripata, maybe you can do the recording?

Instrumental: with who
As mak wrote in Latvian, Instrumental in singular is always the same as Accusative and in plural the same as Dative. The only difference is- you have to put with infront of noun. Like,
A.viņu
I.ar viņu

D.viņiem
I.ar viņiem

It isn't very natural but it is correct :y:

I think you can safely ignore the instrumental case.

Doesn't it mean: "I eat cake with Mirac at home."?
So what shall i use instead of "with"? Doesn't ar Miraču mean "with Mirac" or am i just misunderstanding?

It means, but we usually don't say like that.
Mēs ar Miraču mājās ēdām kūku. Me and Mirach ate cake at home.
As for Instrumental, keep it in your mind, but it's not useful.
Mak, tā kā viņš tikai sāk mācīties latviešu valodu, nevajadzētu neko teikt par kaut kā aizmiršanu vai ignorēšanu, tas tikai vēl vairāk samulsina viņu un vēl iemācīsies ko nepareizu, jo "ar" vietā jau nekas jauns nav izdomāts.

Ah, okay.
Btw, "Mēs ar Miraču ēdām kūku mājās" is also possible, isn't it? I mean, the word order..
