Several Lebanese singers have made fully Khaliji albums, including Myriam Fares, Yara and Diana Haddad. They sound pretty authentic. All three have tons of Khaliji songs but I'm choosing some more recent ones. You can often tell Khaliji and Iraqi songs by using lots of "ch" instead of "k", ق as "g" and the Standard Arabic pronunciation of ض ظ ذ ث and heavy ع. In the spoken Gulf dialects you hear lots of ق pronounced as both English "g" AND "dj", ك as "ch", and ج as "y". It's not always used in songs but it's there sometimes.

I love Myriam Fares. She was the first Arabic singer I listened to and actually one of the reasons I started Arabic. I have all her albums and even had her picture on my binder when I was younger haha.

Haha that's so cool! Myriam has changed as an artist so much. She went from that pop chick to a traditional Khaleejiya songstress so well. I wonder how her new sound will be!

In terms of the Lebanese dialect (my favourite), the big names are a bit quiet right now but Elissa has a new song for a TV series (over Ramadan). Here it is with lyrics :-)

I think Elissa's new album will be coming out soon (if you believe her tweets). Always the highlight of the Arabic music scene for me! :D

Haha that would be funny! Did you ever see her Moroccan song "tla7" or something? :-p

I haven't seen her show but everyone is talking about it and said she's doing pretty well. Have you seen it?

Here's the Myriam Moroccan song :-p

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XN1dB_bouI

In keeping with the Moroccan theme, there are more singers doing it

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0mWBZq7h72I
Nawal al Zoghbe. Reading the comments, I see people claiming this is actually Algerian/Moroccan/Tunisian and people getting angry that these dialects are confused. Sorry if I offend anyone :?

The famous Emirati singer Hussein al Jasmi.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqZrMME4OLk
I think this is Moroccan

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCXNcrrZ98Q
I think this is Tunisian to be honest, but it's a really nice song.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkXembR_aGY
This is sung with a particularly awkward Lebanese accent lol, but Diana Haddad looks really pretty in my opinion :D

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JT3ZwtYwouA
Lebanese singer Dolly Chahine in a slightly "revealing" video clip. Lol

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkY1Tpo5qkE
Amal Hijazi

Actual Moroccan musicians:

This is with tons and tons of French in it...reminiscent of how many Moroccans actually speak!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8zCwFCKOfJY
This guy is REALLY popular right now...and I think this is "Arabised" Moroccan because I can understand a fair amount of it

Another song by this guy

Big news guys!

Elissa's new album has been released for pre-order on iTunes and you can listen to short samples of the songs on iTunes :D

Elissa is my favourite artist so I'm really excited every time she releases something new...however, judging by the quick samples, this album is quite similar to the last one, which I consider one of her worst albums. Still better than other singers, but she really has set a very high bar for herself with some of her earlier albums. I did like the more "clubby" sounds of some of the songs, however. Anyway, I will give it a chance when I can download the album in full. I particularly found it weird listening to her cover of Dalida's "7elwa ya baladi" - her voice is too calm to sing a song like that.

Hope you guys get a chance to check it out and tell me what you think :D

I also just noticed that there is only ONE Lebanese song (maybe two, because one of the snippets isn't long enough to hear any singing - but even the title "ana magnoona" suggests it's Egyptian) on the whole album!!! Every other song is Egyptian! I know Elissa got some negative feedback from Lebanese fans because her last album had only 4 Lebanese songs...so I can only imagine that those same fans might be even more unhappy now :-\

N8an, I love Myriam's Moroccan song. Thanks for posting it and the other ones as well. It is such a cool dialect :) Unfortunately my school only teaches Egyptian, Shami and Fus7a. I wish they had Moroccan, its such an amazing dialect. Even the Ultimate Arabic doesn't have Moroccan, I know it's not a popular dialect but it should have been included. I'd love to visit Morocco.

And the Elissa album sounds great I can't wait until it comes out! :partyhat:
