You asked for it. Now head to the Arabic discussion thread.

 7araam 3alayki ya M@!, I got back to doubting my Arabic  I fear tests

And you got a point there. For me "ee" do not give the sound of "ei", they sound like "ee" in "need".

halla2, fa79....

I remember that I answered you before. They refer to letters we find no equiavlents for in the Latin alphabet, so we use numbers to transliterate them.
There are also the emphatic sounds, for s I use S, but some use 9, as Aaron did.

No, you didn't explain. Anyway, Can i hear their pronunciation?

Sure you can, just catch me on msn some time.

Color tags are messing up with me.

If you all looked at my lesson you'd know how "ei" is pronounced
Akel 7aal means "anyways", it's not pronounced aakel but ákel (a quick a).
Btw, I just got my Arabic keyboard installed.. Weeee ! Yes, M@! - it's written لبنان (pronounced Libnaan in the north and Libnén in the south), for those of you who are wondering, akel 7aal is written اكل حال.
I know I've promised before, but I'll get new lessons up soon... Seeing as how you all need intermediate instead of beginner's lessons ^^

Sami: I still don't agree about 'akel 7aal'. It's على كل حال, it should at least be 3akel 7aal. Akel is so foreigner-ish. Lebanese with an accent!
And YES! More lessons please, whenever you can.

Aaron1st: Moved the off-topic elsewhere. :haharight:

I believe there is "3ayn", this is how I say it anyways, I don't think I say it wrongly too :? , the "3ayn" is very light but still "3ayn" not "hamza/alif".

@ M@!: Sure! :haha:

Lesson 2

OK people, so I can see basically everyone in this thread are intermediates, therefore I'll give you a translating task :D
Translate Najwa Karam's song "B7ebbak Wala3", when we have at least 2-3 people who have translated it, I'll see who has done the best and most accurate 8)

B7ebbak* wala3, b7ebbak wala3
Yaalli* hawak b2albi inTaba3
Fiek insalab 2albi
W 3omri in2alab 2albi
Kint bdeni, Sirt bdeni, ya delli midri shou bini, shou bini..

Khalieni bi7aali esra7 bikhayaali
7obbak ya 7abibi zilzaal
KharboTli kayaali ghayarli zamaani
7obbak maa khaTir 3ala baal

Jinini gharaami 2ablak ya gharaami
Maa 3arift el-hawa majnoun
7obbak ya 7ayaati* ghayarli 7ayaati
Amarni bi2albak koun

* Can also be pronounced ya elli
* There are some places b7ebbak is better off sounding ba7ebbak - however, this is a slight thing no one really pays attention to.
* 7ayaati is also pronounced 7ayeti

Am I sensing an excuse, ya Maryouma?
This is a chance to see how good you are with Lebanese ^^

enno i'm still having thoughts about making this thread levantine arabic instead of lebanese arabic, wouldn't it be easier instead of creating a thread for palestinian, syrian etc.. and saving space? i know them all except egyptian (it's usually the other way around for lebanese people  )

Enta 2moor bass. What do I do? Change the title?
We have an Egyptian corner, so maybe we'll leave it separated? What do you suggest Sami?

Well, I do suggest a change of the title to "Levantine Arabic" - since I speak them all exept Egyptian, it would be a good idea to have it seperate, as you suggested - and let Jonne continue with his good teaching of Egyptian :)
I'd continue with my lessons, and make notes of when the words/sentences change in the dialects.

I will write an introduction to Levantine Arabic tonight.
