Sweet. I'm currently studying Faroese at the University of the Faroe Islands, so if you need any other information, feel free to ask.
And yes, there are a lot of vowels, but as you may have noticed, Faroese has a sh*tload of diphthongs. Or well, there's even a theory going on, that all the long monophthongs [can] have secondary diphthongisation, while the long diphthongs [can] have secondary triphthongsation.
