What kind of container is that? With eXtra Large size??Busy corporate lawyers spend twelve hours a day at work, and somehow, are busy the entire time. It's easy to imagine that they could get their work done (most days) in 8 hours, but the container they're using is size XL, and so the work expands to fit.

A metaphorical one. And, yes, "XL" stands for extra large.

I'd need the full context to say for sure, but it looks like they're talking about the expectations of the job. (Corporate lawyers are under a lot of pressure to produce "billable hours" for their firms.)
