Spezzino is a variety of Ligurian spoken in La Spezia, the second largest city by population in Liguria to the north of Corsica. This is a lyric video for a pop(?) song in Spezzino called "Te pai 'n benè," apparently about people from La Spezia. :?: I can identify some of the swearwords. :P Ligurian seems to sound a lot more like Standard Italian that I expected. I wonder to what extent that's true of other languages/language varieties spoken in Italy:

I don't think languages learners that "love Portuguese! OMG!! s2 s2" do that because of Compania do Pagode:

Monégasque, a variety of Ligurian, is the traditional national language of Monaco. This link includes a few children's songs in Monégasque; I'm listening to "Carreghëta d'oru."

It's not Mardi Gras until I hear the Balfa Brothers' "Danse de Mardi Gras", even if I do prefer the Mamou Playboys' version to the original:

One more song in Ligurian: Intemelio is a variety of Ligurian historically spoken in France, Italy, and Monaco. The most well-known variety of Intemelio is apparently spoken in the coastal town of Ventimiglia, very close to the French border. This is a song from Ventimiglia that's described as being in Genoese but I suspect might actually be in Intemelio (both are varieties of Ligurian anyway):

Royasc is a transitional language variety between Ligurian and Occitan in the Upper Roya Valley on the border between France and Italy. This is a song in Royasc from France performed by an artist collective, presumably from the French side of the border, called "Ròia." The lyrics can be found in the video description followed by translations into both French and English, in that order:

It's the song from the shortfilm "Mindenki". I really like the chorus part from 0:20. :)

Piedmontese, like Ligurian, is a Gallo-Italic language spoken in northern Italy; in particular, it is spoken in Piedmont, Italy's westernmost region. This is a song called "La Monferrina." It's in the variety of Piedmontese spoken in Torino, the capital of Piedmont, and apparently is taken from local TV in that city:

Valdôtain is a variety of Arpitan a.k.a. Franco-Provençal spoken in the Aosta Valley (Val d'Aosta in Italian) in Italy. Other varieties of Arpitan are spoken in eastern France and western Switzerland but are apparently represented in smaller numbers. This is a song from the Aosta Valley that I think is in Valdôtain, but I'm not really sure:

Valaisan a.k.a. Valais or Valaisan Romand is another variety of Arpitan spoken in the western, French-speaking part of Switzerland, in the canton of Valais (or Wallis in German) located in the southwestern part of the country. This is a song, apparently in this particular variety, but about Arpitan in general, with subtitles in both Arpitan and English:

It's clearly pop (with a flamenco-influenced instrumental but still pop). Did you not notice that it's a cover of Aserejé?

Yeah, IIRC Aosta is the only Arpitan territory where there's still intergenerational transmission of the language. You won't here any children (or anyone, really) speaking "patois" in Lyons or Geneva, that's for sure.

I mean, what else could it be? I'm pretty sure it's not Piedmontese, Italian or French. The bits I can pick out, like "jò me sòi anada", "cantem", "angelet" and so on sound pretty similar to Occitan.

No. I'd never (barely ever?) even heard of Aserejé until just now. :para: (I just looked it up).

That's why I've run out of varieties of Arpitan to find songs in. If I search YouTube for "chanson savoyarde," for example, every single result I get is a song in French. (I just tried "Savoy song" in English, but then I just get pop songs in English :P).

I had so much trouble making out anything over those noisy drums that for all I could tell, it could just be French with a really, reeeeeally strong Italian accent. (I'm also not that familiar with Occitan yet).
