By the way, did I tell you that the nobleman, Magnus Gabriel De la Gardie, who did the main remodelling of the castle pretty much made the entire country bankrupt due to being prime minister, foreign minister, and the minister of finance, all in one, thus being able to spend the Crown's money as he saw fit? The main money drain was his castles and palaces, among those Läckö, which was sort of the jewel in his crown; he had palaces in Stockholm and the surrounding areas but his county was centred here.
Magnus Gabriel's luck ran out when Charles XI came of age though, the king saw what sorry state his country was in because of overspending and decided to do something about the nobility owning most of the land in it. Magnus Gabriel was completely devastated by this, he thought that being a nobleman should have saved him from any consequences when it came to almost making the country bankrupt... let's just say that most modern people go "muhahahahaha" about the whole affair
