EKV - Zemlja

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cS3MWYjF5A8

This song is the first one I liked in Serbian, so I discovered EKV which appeared to be one of the biggest bands from ex-Yugoslavia. The story of the band is sad though... but their music is immortal.

The next language is: Icelandic (is)

All Icelandic songs I know are from our FSC, and I remember this one the best.

Next challenge: [flag=]kk[/flag] Kazakh.

This is a Kazakh song from Xinjiang that I posted here. In particular, it's from a part of Xinjiang where the biggest ethnic minority (after the Han) is Kazakh, not Uyghur as in the rest of that province. I've only ever heard a few songs in Kazakh, but this is my favorite so far:

JEEL - Risalet Salam جيل - رسالة سلام

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydVCbFXEltY

I have chosen this song by Jordanian band JEEL for its lyrics, which speak of peace and tolerance. I also love the hapiness that stems from the music video :D It's actually a cover of this song (in English).

The only Maori song I know came from our FSC contest. It actually was the winner of 2013-2014 All Stars contest (viewtopic.php?f=134&t=44325).

Oh boy, there are so many choices for me here! Persian is my favorite language for listening to songs in. :D I just happen to like listening to songs in lots of other languages as well.

I've posted a bunch of songs in Persian before, but here's a song Limagne once posted that I really love listening to (and, unlike the ones I posted, is not pop by any stretch of the imagination):

Baba Yetu! It's a choral version of Lord's Prayer in Swahili, composed by the Chinese American composer Christopher Tin for the computer game Civilization IV. The music is incredible, and the sound of Swahili fits it well. It almost makes me want to learn Swahili...

As you said Canadian French and not especially Quebec French, here is a song by the Franco-Ontario band Akoufèn. I attended one of their concerts in Ottawa three years ago and immediately loved their melodic rock style.

Tbh, the only song I know in Catalan is "Els Segadors," the official national anthem of Catalonia. I have known all the lyrics by heart for years. Here's a video I found of that song with an English translation (in the video. Beware of loudness! I mean idk, it sounded pretty loud to me at least):

Wow, I never mentioned "'S muladach mi" anywhere on this forum! "'S muladach mi" is the only song I know in Scottish Gaelic and one that I've known for years all because of Encarta. I just found this video of it. It has lots and lots of images of Scotland:

Cool, thanks!

This is a rather weird song, but perhaps it will amuse someone. I found it a few years ago on the blog of a Swedish-Chinese journalist student who was at the time covering foreign aspiring musical artists in China. They are from the Bahamas and I think Canada and Italy and they sing in Mandarin Chinese together, but I have no idea of how well they do it. Maybe that's why it's subbed? Anyway, it always makes me cringe so much...

Their Mandarin sounds a little weird (she sings *ruò instead of luò in the second line) but mostly fine (to me).
Maybe that's why it's subbed?

Nah, that's just common practice with songs in East Asia (although that may have more to do with dialect variation than anything else, especially in the case of Chinese). Most Chinese, Japanese, and Korean songs I can think of come with subtitles. Dialogs are often (though not always) subtitled, too.
Next language is Afrikaans.

This is an Afrikaans song called "Ek kom huis toe" but buffalaxed, i.e. with subtitles indicating what the lyrics sound like in another language (usually, as in this case, English):

Yep, it was me. :) And yeah, I can see that it wasn't in vain. That song is really nice, too, so I'm really glad you like it! :D I'm pretty sure it's about a woman who misses her boyfriend. Yay, I can still make out what some of the words mean even though the last time I tried to learn any Khmer was years ago! :partyhat:

Anyway, the only song I know in Greenlandic...is another regional anthem! :para:

Does it have to be a Youtube link? This is a song from a Turkish band called The Rain. The song is called Evim gökyüzü. I like this song a lot, so I'm glad I could find it online for you all:

You can either play it on the site or download it. :)

I don't think it should have to be. Most of the songs I've posted in Turkish on UniLang come without YouTube links, too. :P

I think I'll wait for somebody else to post a song in English because I figure that should be relatively easy for people to find...
