Great stuff. I especially liked Convulse.

And it's revival time indeed.

Your songs reminded me of Wolves in the Throne Room (kind of), so here's some:

Metal is one of my favorite music genres. I was a pretty big Metalhead back when I was 17-20. Nowadays, while I still listen to Metal a lot, I've started to get into other genres as well, mainly Classical and Jazz. As I get older, I listen to less Extreme Metal but still listen to classic bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas priest, etc. and to Thrash and Power Metal fairly often. Saw Iron Maiden recently and it was a great show!

Here are some of my favorite bands: Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Saxon, Blind Guardian, Kreator, Sodom, Exodus, Testament, Slayer, Anthrax, Moonspell, Vader, Korpiklaani, Finntroll, Ensiferum, Overkill, Nuclear Assault, Megadeth, Death, Rotting Christ, Bolt Thrower, PanterA, DarkTranquillity, Celtic Frost

\m/ go metal!
I listen to any sort of metal, though, I'm not a particular fan of screaming/growing, I often find it interrupting the flow.

System of A Down is my favourite Alt. Metal band.

OMG, I didn't even realize until now that there was a whole thread devoted to metal! That makes me think maybe I should start threads about my favorite kind(s) of music...but then they probably wouldn't fit in this section. I mean, my absolute favorite kind is just any genre of Persian music. I wonder whether I could start a thread here about why I like that so goddamn much. I guess I could, although I don't know how much I'd have to say or how long that thread would survive... Like, basically, I find that Persian (maybe even specifically Iranian Persian) music has particularly complex melodies and has succeeded in carrying such melodies across a wide variety of genres. Also, it's the only kind of music where I personally find influences from Western music almost always being effectively incorporated into the existing musical tradition, rather than replacing that tradition wholesale and making it seem largely forgotten (which I feel is what happens with every other kind of music I have ever seen, once it comes into contact with Western music).

I also thought of starting a thread on world music, but AFAIK, that's not all that popular among the users of this forum either, so I'm afraid it'll end up being nothing more than what I already do on the existing threads for songs. :P

OK, I'm done thinking aloud now.

It's not surprising that this thread went unnoticed, it hasn't been active in a good long while.

And I think it would be interesting to see a few other music threads. :)

Classic Slayer is great stuff. The best song of that album is The Antichrist, imo.

Yeah, while I can appreciate their newer stuff, the older stuff is really where it's at.

I like metal very much, especially black and doom metal, but also some death and heavy.

Anyone interested in alternative/experimental/industrial metal check my tumblr blog about this subject:

Time for 'nother revival!

I've recently gotten into metal. So far I've really only heard folk black metal :P Panopticon is fave! Roads to the North is probly the best album I've listened to by them (albeit I've only heard two  ). Ooh, I found Between the Buried and Me, only heard the first bit of one of their albums (can't even remember it, woops), but from what I've heard I quite like them. And Italian's gotten me to check out Queens of the Stone Age!

Kawaiimetal anybody? BABYMETAL and LADYBABY in particular? I love how serious BABYMETAL has gotten in their metal instrumentals. And dat cowbell in GJ! doe!!

Anyone knowledgeable on post-metal? I'd like to think that's what Ohhms is, but they could just be a very hard variant of post-rock. I dunno. Never heard any post-metal on purpose

Yay! Revival! :partyhat: :partyhat:

I've found that black metal is one of my favorite genres. You might be interested in: Agalloch, Wolves in the Throne Room, Drudkh, Enslaved, Burzum (especially later stuff), Windir. (Yes, a few of those are Viking black metal, but it's similar.)

Some representative samples:

Can't say I've heard Panopticon, but they sound interesting. I'll give them a spin later.

I've tried listening to Babymetal before, but......they just don't do it for me. It's too....cutesy.... (Which I realize is one of their selling points  ) I'll take the opportunity to share a few Japanese metal bands I do like though!

(I'm liking their new direction.)

Finally, for post-metal bands, I've listened to a few. Here are some of my favorites:
