I'm in a bit of a hair metal and asian metal mood today:

Dokken - into the fire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jokWFU_kbOk&feature=fvst

Europe - superstitious
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gU5Vg2JokU

Hibria - steel lord on wheels (nice brazilian metal band, love the intro to this song)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xKQstdpRstY

Queensrÿche - queen of the ryche
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0_THrxYs1w&feature=fvst

and last but not least... TRAX
Scorpio - korean version
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iv52zA5pqrE

Scorpio - japanese version

I have to say that I strongly disapprove of the use of the term "hair metal". Especially in relation to Hibria and Queensrÿche.

Yeah, true. I'm not familiar with Hibria, but I know Queensryche quite well and their not really 'hair' metal. Either way, good shit! :D

Hibria is power metal. :P

Today is the day of the solo:

[flag]pt-br[/flag] Aquiles Priester – Angra's Rebirth Ẃorld Tour (drums)

And this isn't really a solo, but it's still more than technical enough to count:

As I haven't posted in the past few days, here's a random assortment of shit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqI-6xag8Mg

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAqZb52sgpU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SF0U77bm9mc

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgSn0SbQJQI
A total classic!

The first two are debatable as far as being true metal, but so what?

That's beautiful. Drone metal is the heaviest genre of them all. Nobody can convince me otherwise.

ILuvEire wrote:Okay, I wanna post a little Neue Deutsche Härte. NDH, everyday.

Das Ich - Schwarzes Gift ["Black Poison"]
Lacrimosa - Dem Ende entgegen ["Against the End"]

Das Ich and Lacrimosa are often listed as part of a separate scene, Neue Deutsche Todeskunst, which is gothic stuff (along with that very weird transwoman Anna-Varney Cantodea). Not within the scope of this thread, but I think you might want to follow the NDT tag on Last.fm, in case you haven't done so.

and [flag]fr[/flag] Alcest, black-influenced longish pretentious thingy, like Agalloch.

Hah yeah kzwy, and I think Buddha would have listened to drone doom.

No, you're right in my mind. Drone is the heaviest kind of metal. And it's sound is awesome!

Mellow? As you wish: :P
[flag]en-us[/flag] Maceo Parker – Shake Everything You've Got (funk)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ABLwmYI09Lw

Incidentally, listening to that before all the songs of today's list made for a pretty awesome aural assault.

Here's the list, reflecting my current liking of awesome (and crazy) Japanese stuff:

[flag]jp[/flag] Blood Stain Child – Metropolice (electronic melodic death metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yQhRS-4NXiE

[flag]jp[/flag] Sigh – Me-Devil (black metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sLbN99MiW3E

[flag]jp[/flag] The Black Mages – Maybe I'm a Lion (instrumental progressive metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGyMWORBjPw

[flag]jp[/flag] Nobuo Uematsu – Otherworld (melodic death metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sh5McG4PryM

[flag]jp[/flag] The Black Mages – Advent: One-Winged Angel (progressive metal)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q5st0b3ln5U

Alright, I'll admit I may have a slight addiction to stuff composed by Nobuo Uematsu. :P

I've yet to check out BSC's new album, but if it's anything like their last one it should be good.

Sign has always been a bit hard to pin down for me. Point in case:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRaciHTcXV4
Busting out with some Country style? Really?
I'm honestly not sure if I like them or not overall. :?

I've never heard of Nobuo Uematsu or The Black Mages, but I remeber that song from FFX! It was a pretty great song! :P
Think I've got some sleuthing to do.

I ended up listening to a couple of songs off it when I was looking for Metropolice, ended up just getting the whole album last night. It's gone more in a melodic metalcore direction, but it's still a great album. One of my favourite songs off it:

I like how they add in avant-garde like stuff, always interesting to hear, but for me they're a bit of a hit or miss band. Some songs I like, some I don't. Not sure yet about that one you posted though.

If you mean the Maceo Parker then it was more of a joke than anything. :P While I do love listening to him and Fred Wesley doing funk like only they can, I'm not gonna seriously bust them out as a part of a metal list.

Nobuo Uematsu is the guy who composed all the music for Final Fantasy I-IX, and most of X, and I believe most of XI and XIV too. The Black Mages are formed up of Nobuo and some of the guys he worked with at Squaresoft/Square-Enix. They've done metal versions of a good number of songs from the FF games.

As for the songs by them I posted, Maybe I'm a Lion was a boss theme in FFVIII, Otherworld the intro to FFX, and Advent: One-Winged Angel was in FFVII:AC, made even better than the original by Nobuo, cause the guy likes metal.

No, I mean Sigh. In the song I posted they go into a bit of a country riff for a minute.

I'm interested in finding metal in other languages, there's too much metal in english and finding new music in english although it may be good is just boring for me... I'm trying to find some greek metal at the moment... there are tons of greek metal bands but most of them sing in english dammit and all the other greek music I've found so far is like sappy pop music and shit that I cba to listen to :?
