Because you don't have enough money to travel there, or because the country is too poor. Sorry, I found the sentence ambiguous. :)

Because he doesn't have enough money to travel there. Iran is not that poor.

Russia, Slovakia, Hungary, the whole of Ex-Yugoslavia.

Even though I've technically been to Serbia before, I've seen so little. I still have to visit so many places, like Novi Sad, Užice, Šumadija, Niš, Kosovo (maybe one day its occupation will end.)

Why leave Antarctica out? Imagine, you could say you've been to all continents. :yep:

Could take that into consideration when Ryanair starts flying there, don't wanna spend too much money to see some snow and a bunch of penguins. :P

I want to visit South Africa, too - or I'd like to someday. Most of my maternal cousins grew up there, and some of my relatives still live there. They always invite me over, but I've never gone. One year, I'm pretty sure my dad even suggested we could go if we made plans far enough in advance, but it didn't work.

After seeing this I have to make it my Number One Destination.

Hope they don't build a fence through the table.

Time to learn Afrikaans, Xhosa, etc.

Apparently (from what I've heard from one of my cousins via my brother ), learning Afrikaans is actually pretty useless these days (by which I guess I mean it's not exactly a language that's crucial for commercial purposes in South Africa) because most Afrikaners also speak English, but by contrast, there's a real need for people who speak indigenous South African languages because a lot of those languages' native speakers don't speak English (or Afrikaans). But anyway, I do have Complete Xhosa and Complete Zulu, plus a book with a collection of phrases in all four of these languages, plus this children's book in two versions (one bilingual in English and Tswana, the other bilingual in English and Sotho), plus novellas I guess in Swati, Ndebele, and Tsonga (Swati and Ndebele are both very closely related to, and probably to some extent mutually intelligible with, Xhosa and Zulu).

Yea, you may get by with English in a short stay, but I heard in another forum that people going to live in South Africa for a while, in cities or in places inhabited by many white people, Afrikaans is an important language to sue in daily life, and you would need it if you want to really get in touch with the local circles. One user stated that when her American friend came from South Africa she had learnt Afrikaans.

I think I'll try a short visit to where my relatives live before I plan on staying in South Africa for any (more) substantial period of time. :P And I don't really expect to become part of Afrikaner life given the fact that I'm not white and apartheid is not even close to dead in reality in modern South Africa.

Pfft, you feel bad for going to Vietnam without knowing the language? Do you have any idea how many times I've been to India without knowing any of the languages spoken in the areas where I was staying?

Oh, by that time you had already forgotten Malayalam, but hadn't learnt it yet? Or you mean the other places in India where you stayed before going to Kerala?

Yes.

There, too! (And it wasn't really only before going to Kerala that I went to other places, either. I remember going with my mom once first to Kochi, then to Thiruvalla (by car), then back to Kochi (by car again) to take a flight to Bangalore and staying with my aunt, and then I think going from there to Chennai by train ).

I don't see the point of a non-Viet foreigner learning Vietnamese. But if you're going to get married into a Vietnamese family*, it might make sense. Might.
