Tigrinja översättning

Postby ErikaJ » 2015-12-04, 8:10

Hej!

Jag undrar helt enkelt vad det står på detta broderi. Språket är, så vitt jag förstår, tigrinja.
Har försökt att översätta med hjälp av lexin och tror då att första ordet betyder "ljus", men är osäker.
Hjälp!

As far as I understand, it is not Tigrinya but Amharic. I understood it from the word "ይበራል" (yəbäral), which is the 3rd person masculine form of the Amharic verb "መብራት" (mäbrat) (to shine).

The text is: ብርሃንም በጨለማ ይበራል ጨለማም አላሸነፈውም።
native: (tr)
advanced: (en) (el)
intermediate: (fr) (ka)
focus: (de) (sl) (hr)

Thank you!
Do you have any suggestion for the other words, or do you know where I can find a good translation tool?

It's a quote from the Bible, specifically John 1:5.
