Swahili Stress

Postby The Finnish Spaniard » 2007-11-09, 18:45

I know the stress in Swahili almost always on the next-to-last syllable of a word, but I'm wondering how much stress is given. I've heard some Swahili sound clips, and in words by themselves, the stress seems to be stronger than when in a sentence/phrase. How much should I stress? I don't want to stress too little, or stress too much and soun angry

Yes, the stress is usually on the next-to-the-last syllable. How much stress? Well, just make it a little bit harder than the other syllables...like the "ta" in the English word "table".
