Hi all, been wanting to know if this Tamil makes any sense? Found this board in the temple of Sringeri in Karnataka.

No, it doesn't make sense (and it's possible that their font is messed up...). I don't know how they came up with that, either.

I assume it was probably written by a Kannada speaker?

Maybe, although it's so messed up I'm not sure that makes any difference. Whoever wrote it clearly didn't know what they were doing. :P They have things like vowel markers after silent letters and stuff that makes no sense. :?

So it actually doesn't make any sense. Darn. I so thought I had stumbled upon a vocabulary which might have existed which I didn't know of.

But what the reason was, behind the person who came up with text was intending to do, is an interesting thing to still know.
