Thought I would create this folder for people who are learning Welsh. It's spoken by a lot of people relative to some of the other languages on this subsection of the forum, so here we can discuss this fairly unique language.

Is this correct Welsh? I 'm learning Welsh and I didn't know that you can use 'ti heb'. I thought it would be something like:

Wyt ti ddim yn weld y rhain?

Wyt ti ddim yn gweld y rhain?

That would mean, "Don't you see these?" But "Ti heb weld y rhain?" is the equivalent of "(Wyt) Ti ddim wedi gweld y rhain?", i.e. "Haven't you seen these?" (Wyt is generally dropped in casual speech.)

There's a lot of variation in spoken Welsh. (Somewhere there's an instructive page listing forty alternative ways of saying, "I am a teacher", but I'm having no luck finding it again.) There's another acceptable way of phrasing almost anything.
