Acronyms and Abbreviations

Postby Ciarán12 » 2012-09-10, 19:40

I just saw this thread and thought it might be an idea to come up with a list of acronyms and abbreviations used in the various Celtic languages. So what do you think?

[flag]ga[/flag] - GRMA - Go raibh maith agat - thank you

[flag]ga[/flag] - GOA - ag gáire os ard - laughing out loud, LOL

[flag]ga[/flag] - srl, 7rl - is/agus aráile - etc.

[flag]ga[/flag] - .i. - eadhon - i.e., that is...

[flag]ga[/flag] - AIF - an Aibítir Idirnáisiúnta Foghraíochta - the International Alphabet, IPA

[flag]ga[/flag] - BÁC - Baile Átha Cliath - Dublin

[flag]cy[/flag] - e.e. - er enghraifft - e.g., for example

Sounds good to me. I haven't got any particlar input, but I would like to know what "e.e." means in Welsh. I think it's "e.g.", maybe? I ran into it in a quote that YngNghymru posted from some grammar book or other.
