'No' for 'Dw i 'n'

Postby Wishful Learner » 2011-08-14, 17:15

In the SaySomethingInWelsh course (Southern), I was taught that the negative for 'no', when using 'I am', is Nadw. However, I was corrected in the Person After Me game to say 'Nac ydw'. I'm confused - which one is more proper? Or is it another south/north thing?

Diolch. :)

You could've just asked this in the thread, you know.

Nadw is fine in speech, but it looks somewhat funny in writing - it belongs to the same province as writing dialect words phonemically. The correct written form is nac ydw.

Oh, sorry about that. :$

Thanks for answering. I was just confused with two different words. Diolch!
