NAIL Media

Howdy!
I came across this most awesome video today and wanted to share it:
The Berenstain Bears in Lakota!!!
I think this is so cool not because I like the Berenstain Bears, but because I think representation in various forms of media is really important to keeping languages healthy and from disappearing. Also, rather than make this thread solely about cartoons in Lakota (although that works for me
), I figured I'd open it up as a spot to share videos and music in all the various Native American languages.

Good idea!
And I saw that video a while ago. It is pretty cool that they did that.
Hopefully more of them will be made, both by the Lakhota and other tribes. And not just the Berenstain Bears. Maybe some day CSI will have Mohawk subtitles/dubbing or something.
[Yes, I know that's on long-shot of a dream.]

And maybe you can work on doing the subtitles
Can you hear Mohawk calling?
As an aside, lately I've been looking at Cree.

Actually, I forgot until you posted it here.

Yeah, actually I can.
I've been trying to think of a good "easy" NA language to get into. I was thinking of Oneida, but the audio doesn't work anymore!
I'll have to see if I can get it to work again.
And Cree is awesome!

I recently bought a flute from a Shawnee gallery. They had some amazing stuff, even some stuff that they said belonged to a chief of the tribe at a point, and some music CDs (which I bought). Might be I post some of the songs.

Not at all. Post as much as you like! It is a music/video thread after all!
You seem to have more luck then I do finding songs.

The first song, Indian Dreams, sounded like it had some ɫ's in it. I'm guessing an Athabascan language, like Navajo or Apache. I'm not 100% sure though.
The second, Looking for North, is just to hard to tell.
I
love wolves.
Could never had guessed!
You had a wolf avatar at one point, didn't you?

And an actual wolf.

Yup! A female Red Wolf named Wyle.
She looked like this. She was amazingly peaceful/loving and protecting.

I just found out about a band (I don't know what you'd call it) called Nightwish. This song has some parts sung in Lakhota!
Nightwish - End of An Era 16 - Creek Mary's Blood (With Lyrics)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gia2qcih1OYIts like a hybrid of rock music, some of the above that posted and musicals? I don't know how to describe it, but its great!

I've listened to these guys before, and they are pretty good.
I just remembered that
Fennek posted this song in one of the other forums a few months ago. Forgot all about it until you just posted.
And yes, they are a band.

Here's a place to post any music, videos, etc.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wwr1m1e4RAsA Greenlandic band (though they all seem suspiciously Danish to me
).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N46anCHmYnkPamyua - a Yup'ik group from Alaska.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iWzTHwTE2QTaima - a Canadian duo that includes a native Inuit.

I really like Nanook's music, although I've read a comment from a Greenlander about a tendency of foreigners to ignore other Greenlandic musicians, and so I think we need to strengthen the support for others too.

I'd agree, we need to support as many groups as we can.
That's why I tried to get a bit of everything in my first post. More to come (hopefully).
