So apparently நில்லு is also the verb root, but it's the spoken form. நில் is the written form. So I've adjusted my Anki card:
[flag=]ta-lk[/flag] நில் {கொடுந்தமிழ்: நில்லு} stop [verb root; imp]
I'm not really sure how to show a written versus spoken form; I haven't really dealt with this part of Tamil before. It can get more complicated since there can be a different Sri Lankan spoken form and Indian spoken form.
Edit: I decided to use the Tamil word "kodunthamizh", which means basically spoken Tamil or dialectal Tamil, instead of "SP" within the braces. Written Tamil is called "centhamizh".
