TAC 2015: Español, English, Français, Русский

Postby הענט » 2014-12-03, 18:24

It may be way too soon to call my shot, but I'd like to announce my TAC 2015 to solidify my plans for next year.

[flag=]es[/flag] I'm going to improve my Spanish and build upon the basics I learned last year. My target is to stack up on vocabulary and practice the many verb forms Spanish has.

[flag=]en-us[/flag] New vocabulary, new colloquialisms, better pace and pronunciation. C2, I'm coming for you. Hopefully.

[flag=]fr[/flag] Wait till I knock you out you tricky bastard.

[flag=]ru[/flag] Из России с любовью...

What would you say your levels are in each language? And how do you plan to study them?

[flag=]en-us[/flag] Advanced fluency. Here I'll need to watch more stuff and write down the words and idiomatic phrases I'm not aware of yet. I'll probably buy some American accent course for actors to improve my pronunciation.

Please correct my mistakes in any language.

EDIT: To avoid wanderlust...

My head's about to explode!! :x

I spent the whole day learning languages. Well, most of it.

[flag=]es[/flag] 30 minutes
[flag=]ja[/flag] 30 minutes
[flag=]ru[/flag] 2-3 hours of reviewing sentences (1-1000) and repeating them.
[flag=]en[/flag] The word of the day = hoist

I hope you don't mind corrections.
(The mistakes are few and minor so I didn't feel like highlighting them with a different colour).
Я знаю, что я делаю ошибки, но думаю, что нельзя изучать иностранный язык без них. Произношение в русском и китайском может быть трудное, но я надеюсь, что всё будет хорошо. Есть вероятность, что не будет такого большого прогресса, но мне всё равно. Я просто буду делать то, что мне нравится.

Шанс has a positive connotation.

Also, it seems like you're translating from English mentally when speaking Russian? Otherwise
Только сделаю, что мне нравится

why would you miss the aspect? Or did I perhaps misunderstand the intended meaning?

Thanks for the correction. I wanted to say: I'm doing what I like. ([flag=]cs[/flag] Dělám, co mě baví. /Dělám, co se mi líbí.) , but I like your version better. Is it necessary to write the umlaut, though? I think the context is a dead giveaway. Все люди... X Все понятно. :)

I really like how you're writing in your languages. I think I might start doing that with my 2015 TAC. I guess I've tended to concentrate more on speaking, listening, and reading (in that order) with French, Portuguese, and Spanish. So apart from A1-level words and phrases, I've never focused on writing.

Keep up the good work! A long day of language learning can be exhausting! But it's still fun. Also, you're definitely a big inspiration to me. So thanks.

Thanks, but it's not like I study the languages 24/7. I wish it was true. For example yesterday, I only spent one hour on Japanese and nothing else. I learned some more kana, though. It doesn't look so frightening. Especially hiragana. Arabic script is probably easier though, because I managed to learn it faster, but it all depends on the exposure. :)

I wish you good luck in your endeavors and try writing in your target languages too, because it's a great exercise and there are enough native speakers to help you out in here. :D

Well, as much as I love studying languages, neither do I! :D After all, life gets in the way. It's nothing to be ashamed of or anything. :)

Hehe, I like your attitude Vijay - life gets in the way of studying languages. As if all you want to do is study languages all day, every day, with every waking breath. But that damn thing called life happens...

Делаю, что мне нравится/ что мне хочется/ что мне по душе.

No, it's not necessary to put the dots over the "ё" but I'd recommend learners to do so, so that they can have it corrected if they used the wrong word.
