TAC 2013 – Nehushtan [uk, lt, tr]

Postby MillMaths » 2013-01-05, 11:04

Okay, I'm feeling ever so lazy at the start of this new year. But when I stop being lazy, maybe this is what I'm going to do.

[flag]tr[/flag] Türkçe: There are a lot of people from Turkey living in London, including the area where I live. It would be nice to be able to speak to them in their language (indeed I've observed that Turkish people generally love it when you speak to them in their language).

[flag]lt[/flag] Lietuvių: There are people from Lithuania living in London too (not as many as from Turkey). They tend to be quiet, keeping a low profile, but they're very pleasant people to talk to when you get to know them. And I really love the sounds of Lithuanian – I find it a very sonorous language.

[flag]uk[/flag] Українська: I’ve only met one Ukrainian person in London so far – and only very briefly – but why not take up a challenge and learn something totally new to me? I thought I'd do that. And Ukrainian is as good a language as any other.
This will be my TAC list for 2013. З Новим роком! :)

Also my main focus for this year, but keeping a log never really worked for me. I'll at least try to post a bit more often in the Lithuanian forum.
Current focus: [flag=]lt[/flag] [flag=]fr[/flag] [flag=]bg[/flag] [flag=]hr[/flag] [flag=]ga[/flag]

Labai ačiū. 8-)

I'm tempted to add

[flag]ky[/flag] Кыргызча: I was browsing the Internet just now when I came across a Kyrgyz–Russian dictionary in two PDF volumes, each volume over 55 MB in size. I couldn't help downloading it. Then I downloaded a French–Kyrgyz dictionary. Suddenly I find myself wanderlusting after an exotic language.

З Новим роком! :)

Do not hesitate to ask me here or in the Ukrainian forum regarding any questions you may have.

If you've been in touch with Slavic languages before, it won't be that totally new to you, by the way. :)

Успіхів та натхнення в Новому році! :)

Yes, I'm used to Slavic languages and the Cyrillic alphabet – and I also think the Ukrainian letter і is cute. :P

Щиро дякую!

Nice. I was actually thinking about learning Kyrgyz rather than Kazakh too. :)

You're welcome. I want to notice you about something. If you learn the Turkish grammar, Kyrgyz will be easier for you ;) Because both of them are Turkic languages ;)
