if you're new to the whole thing see:
introduction to TACReaching out here to the whole UL community, not just the ever stronger (and smaller) TAC community. As some of you are aware, TAC 2010 and 2011 (along with the associated WAC and SAC) were not complete failures, but as expect did result in massive drop out rates. The general level of motivation on there is low. It has therefore been suggested that we organise ourselves into groups. (and possibly do fewer languages)
Each group would aim to have as many people as possible doing the same (or related) language. Theoretically, they would pool their resources (as much as possible) and work as a team, sharing the workload, and giving each member vital jobs so that they know they MUST get their next load done.
We're also looking for people willing to take on the role of teacher, either native speakers or advanced students.the "competition" aspect (and I appologise for
completely shirking those duties,
mah bad y'all) would be handled not in terms of individuals but in terms of teams. so you'd work hard to make sure everyone in your team gets to their end goal.
Obviously, there are complications when it comes to people interested in langs with few other learners, so what I'd like here, is to get a feel for who would be interested in doing which languages. that way we could organise ourselves into groups where enough people who can commit want to do the same language. By 2012, I can set up a poll and we can see who'd do what.
We're also open to suggestions:
- try having a roster whereby each person has to summarise and hold a "lesson" on a chapter in the book, or a grammatical feature.
- try sharing anki decks and spread out the load by assignign certain areas of words to each member.
