Hey everyone, I just discovered this forum after using HTLAL for so long. I'm participating in their TAC, so I'll join this one too. I'm in for Korean, Mandarin and Japanese.

I've lurked here for a while and I figured this would be a good time to join in.

Anyways, I'm going with Ancient Greek. I have been studying it since early November, using Athenaze as my text. My goal is to at least make it through both books of Athenaze by the end of next year, and hopefully get to something more interesting. I'll supplement Athenaze with grammars and other textbooks on Attic Greek as I acquire them, and possibly something on NT Greek. I'm mostly interested in Roman and Byzantine era Greek authors, but Attic just seems like the right place to start, especially since I want to read a variety of texts from the period.

For the record, I'm scared of your list (triple the pleasure, triple the pain). Baby steps for me.

(or is it quadruple? quintuple?)

Most people here are masochists anyway so pain is no threat to us :)

the biggest thing i've noticed about TAC so far, is that flags seem to have been shatted all over the forum... I like it :)

Awww, y’all (‘’’ and thekickinside) speaking kindly about Persian warm my heart. :partyhat:
However, I was leaning towards Japanese and Arabic initially, and think I’ll go that route, seeing as I don’t think I’ll ever get to Iran, but Japan or somewhere in the Arabic-speaking world might be possible.

Due to some recent events throwing a monkey-wrench into my life, I may be out of the TAC before I even begin...but here’s to hoping for better things in 2010:

Put me down for Arabic, Japanese, and Aeo (yeah, that’s right. This language:
angelfire.com/super2/tigeria/aeo.html )

This way, I can go to Arabic when Japanese Kanji and honorific/humble forms make me cry. And I can go to Aeo when Arabic cases or plurals make me cry. Yay!

@Meera: I’m also interested in Lebanese Arabic...but I figure it’d be better to start out with MSA. What resources are you planning to use?

Somebody else's conlang? Is there anything else than this informal list of sounds that you can learn from?
