Since there is already a Germanic, Slavic, Romance, and Uralic thread, I decided it would be good, since these are pretty common languages (though their connexion is disputed) that they are worthy of their own thread too...
I'm talking about, of course, Japanese and Korean...
compared to other languages I've looked at, Korean seems to have a grammar that's a bit like Japanese, though I don't know enough about korean to ascertain this... I've wanted to brush up on my Japanese a bit while also attempting to learn a bit of Korean, so I figured anybody who can write in both, why not write the same message in both languages so that students of either language can learn the other by way of example...
I know that while playing video games, I was able to translate directly from Japanese to Korean much easier than from English to Korean, so this tells me something, but a lot of that could be because a lot of Korean words are derived from Chinese characters like Japanese... anyway, I think this would be a great idea for a thread...
*edit:also, since chinese actually uses chinese characters, I think it would be fitting for this thread too...
so on that note
minna nihongoto kankokugoto isshoni benkyou shiyou!
